True Colors

Can you stand one more post about Mike Pence?

Yesterday, a friend shared an email she received from our former Indiana Governor and current Trump toady/VP candidate.

The fundraising plea came as Pence spoke to ALEC, telling the corporate interest group that “I was for ALEC before it was cool!” (Ahem–breaking news, Mike: it still isn’t cool.) ALEC has been behind state-level voter ID measures, draconian immigration-enforcement laws and “Stand Your Ground” legislation–not to mention an anti-environmental agenda centered upon denial of climate change and support of fossil fuels. Those positions have prompted a number of  companies–including Google, AOL, Yahoo, Yelp, eBay, BP and Facebook–to leave the organization.

Pence has always had close ties to ALEC and the Koch Brothers. Other positions he has taken since joining the Trump ticket, however, represent a dramatic change from previous postures. For example, Mr. Conspicuous Piety seems positively eager to support a twice-divorced, foul-mouthed, belligerent buffoon who models behaviors inconsistent with both the culture-war positions for which the Governor was previously known and the civility he actually practiced.

(Speaking of civility: For sheer chutzpah, its hard to top Pence’s recent criticism of Democrats for “name calling.” Psychiatrists have a word for that: projection.)

What really sent me over the edge, however, was the text of the fundraising email shared by my friend.

Friend,

I can’t wait until we have an America we can both be proud of again.

When we have a President who looks out for Americans first.

A President who rips up trade deals that kill American jobs. A President that builds a wall and places our National Security first. A President who will Make America Great Again!

I can’t wait until we have a leader like Donald Trump as our next President.

If you can’t wait either, then I need you to donate today so we can make that happen.

In fact, Donald Trump told me that up until Sunday, he is going to personally match your donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $1 million.

So friend, if you are like me and you can’t wait until we have a President who puts America first, then let’s work together to take our country back today.

Since this plea was written in a foreign language–Lapdog–I hope you’ll permit me to translate.

Friend,

I know I used to be a proponent of free trade, but I’m carrying water for Donald Trump these days, so now I’m all for ripping up trade deals. I’m flexible.

I know I’ve spent years  preaching American exceptionalism, but Donald says America is weak and in terrible shape, so I am obediently parroting that line, too.

On the important issues, after all, Donald and I have long agreed.

Donald and I agree that we need to Make America Great Again because a President who is African-American could not possibly put America first. We need a President more like Putin. Strong.

Donald and I also totally agree that we need to take the country back from the minorities and immigrants and uppity women who are ruining it. We need to return to the good old days, when just being a straight white guy entitled you to run things, and those “others” knew their place.

And I hope you noticed my reference to Donald’s money. That’s the proof that he is qualified to be President. (And don’t go drawing negative conclusions from his refusal to make his tax returns public. If he says you don’t need to see those returns, then you don’t need to see them.) Being a rich white guy is how he knows he’s superior to everyone else, and entitled to be President, even though he is admittedly a monumental, delusional ignoramus.

One thing Hoosiers have learned since Donald Trump swooped in and saved Mike Pence from looming electoral defeat: these two truly deserve each other.

  1. Did Donald Trump write Pence’s E-mail himself; or was it his speechwriters who penned Melania’s convention speech? Pence’s recent criticism of Democrat’s “name calling” is also coming from the mouth of Donald Trump and the term “projection” should be in all capital letters. Has The Donald hacked Pence’s E-mails or has Pence turned his entire life over to Trump? That could be one of the requirements to join his movement. There are many questions to be voiced regarding that plea for donations because Pence has never had an original thought of his own; he has carried on Daniels’ work and parroted Daniels’ words. He is now sitting on a different knee with a different owner speaking through him. While Pence may have the IQ of Mortimer Snerd; neither Mitch Daniels or Donald Trump have the IQ of Edgar Bergen, nor do they have his humanitarian heart.

As I commented on a Facebook post this morning, using the lyrics of a long ago hit song, “…I’ve told you over and over and over my friend, we are on the Eve of Destruction…”

“One thing Hoosiers have learned since Donald Trump swooped in and saved Mike Pence from looming electoral defeat: these two truly deserve each other.”

While Sheila is 100% correct in her above assessment of Trump and Pence deserving each other; we sure as hell do NOT deserve them.

  2. JoAnn,

“As I commented on a Facebook post this morning, using the lyrics of a long ago hit song, “…I’ve told you over and over and over my friend, we are on the Eve of Destruction…”

You’re more musically inclined than me. How about the movie…”Runaway Train” starring Denzel Washington. I can see it now, Conductor Pence barking, “All aboard” join us now for ONE BIG TRAIN WRECK.

  3. This reminds me of an opera duet, where each person is singing his own song but the songs fit well into a piece. In this case, the song title is “Really Dumb Stuff”. Both guys are now up to speed, almost daily saying something outrageous. I will be proud and happy to vote for the song to stop.

  4. Marv; sorry, I missed the movie “Runaway Train”. I still compare current conditions with Stephan King’s book and movie, “The Stand”. You must admit Trump is a plague; currently an epidemic but to become a pandemic if elected. If you are familiar with King’s novels and movies, do you remember, “The Dead Zone” which had a rising politician, Greg Stillson, who completely fits the description, the political aspirations and the hate-based mindset of Donald Trump. Fits close enough to appear prophetic; sorry I can’t see the same end for Trump with all of those Secret Service agents surrounding him.

I know Hillary has had their protection 24/7 since being First Lady but, did the other candidates (in both parties) have the same protection? That is a serious question as I had no idea Trump was so protected till the views of his arrivals (plural) at the RNC. I have also seriously wondered how and/or why he has not been assassinated or attempts made; there are those against him who have the same level of hatred as his supporters. This is a dangerous time for all of us in this country.

  5. The Democratic Party in Indiana doesn’t say much about ALEC because they are tied into the unions – remaining private and public sector unions. Lobbying interests are lobbying interests.

However, the Democratic Party on a national level has aligned itself with Wall Street which has competing interests with unions. Who has won out?

Meanwhile, the unaffiliated voter percentage is increasing dramatically. The #DEMEXIT crowd is leading the charge.

The Democratic Party has corrupt leadership and the GOP has no platform and no leadership. Neither party really has an answer at this point in time because they both serve their monied masters while pandering to the electorate. Look at winners and losers.

  6. Cute translation.

I never thought that Trump could go so low as to disgrace himself the way he did by his comments to Mr and Mrs Khan yesterday. That was as low as I think any person could go as he runs for commander in chief. He is a disgusting human. I hope the media doesn’t let up on Trump for that display of ego and repeats it for the next 100 days.

  7. JoAnn

“Marv; sorry, I missed the movie “Runaway Train”. I still compare current conditions with Stephan King’s book and movie, “The Stand”. You must admit Trump is a plague; currently an epidemic but to become a pandemic if elected.

I admit Trump is a plague. I was thinking maybe we should promote a Political “Horrors” Film Festival. That way we can pick out a few of our favorites. I’ve mentioned a couple of them before: “The Killer Shrews,” “Fail-Safe,” and “The Chamber.” As far as “The Chamber” by John Grisham is concerned, I refer anyone who has an interest to my website………………. http://www.KillingtheMessenger.info.

  8. Remember the Donald saying, “I could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and I wouldn’t lose any supporters?” That’s just how crazy things are this election cycle. The Evangelicals have shown that they really don’t care about the “Christ” part of Christian and the only guy on the right who has even caused a little stir against Trump is Ted Cruz, who everyone thought was the crazy one before now. The rest of the Republican leadership has swallowed the Kool-aid.

  9. Marv; is there any difference between the hidden messages in Grisham’s (I love his books) and Christie’s writings than today’s “dog whistles” or the term “subliminal messages” from the past? No one can accuse Trump of hiding any of his messages but Pence’s laws (RFRA, anti-abortion and required burial of fetuses either miscarried or aborted) appeared to be enacted for different reasons than he reported. Although; they were obviously, blatantly and loud-and-clear his personal religious beliefs, backed by Indiana’s Legislature who were also Bible-thumping as they pushed the bills through for Pence’s signature.

  10. JoAnn,

“Marv; is there any difference between the hidden messages in Grisham’s (I love his books) and Christie’s writings than today’s “dog whistles” or the term “subliminal messages” from the past?”

Not much if any. They all fall under the term “Deception.” That’s why you must have COUNTER-DECEPTION capabilities. If not, you will lose out in the socio/political environment we’re now facing with the Trump/Pence campaign. The Democratic Party has absolutely no capability to counter the deception which Pence now brings to the Trump campaign. It can only be done from the outside.

  11. While I agree that both Trump and Pence are complete and utter failures as decent human beings, I think if the story about Trump giving his VP control of domestic and foreign affairs is true p, then he is salivating at the mere thought of it. Trump doesn’t want the responsibility of being President, he wants the title. Pence stated that ALEC policies would be put in place nationally if they win. These two must be stopped when we vote in November.

  12. I’ve taken to telling people, “The GOP deserves Donald Trump, but America does not.”

  13. “Take our country back.” right. The GOP controls, what, 70 of 99 state legislative chambers, 32 governor’s offices, and both houses of Congress? Working for whom? You or their donors? Next time someone says “take back our country,” remember who’s got it. Of course, we can always just let them keep what they have and give them the rest of it- the White House and 4 SCOTUS picks that come with it over the next few years. Not to mention the lower court vacancies they’ve been sitting on. Give them the election this year so they can stack the courts with right-wing ideologues. Then there’ll be three branches of government in name only, but functionally “checks and balances” will be a distant memory. GOP subversion of the judiciary- now THAT’S corruption of democratic process.

  14. “However, the Democratic Party on a national level has aligned itself with Wall Street”

    Really, and the evidence is?

Obviously this is from someone with the same problem Pence the dence has; how to defend, in fact even sell, the indefensible.

Put yourself in their shoes and try to make up something that’s not a blatant lie that is a convincing reason to elect Don the con and his court jester to the most powerful position in the world. It’s simply not possible.

Of course ALEC solves this problem by blatantly lying about nearly everything. Like the failure of almost everything conservative business people and politicians have ever tried, is success. In Newspeak of course that comes out “However, the Democratic Party on a national level has aligned itself with Wall Street which has competing interests with unions. Who has won out?”

In other words all alternatives are incompetent, us the least so.

No wonder we have seen our faith in Democracy eroded. We are exposed to the constant advertising of failure as as successful as we’re capable of.

It’s like selling cars by saying that our cars are truly awful but some of our competitor’s models are even worse than ours!

    It is “1984” again.

I don’t know much about Mike Pence as I have never been a Hoosier but what he’s revealed is that he has no creed at all. He’s an actor playing a script for money. The Kochs write the script and checks to Mike’s PACs and Mike goes out on stage and performs them.

    Here’s my Evangelical impression.

“Ladies, it’s all your fault. Thank you, thank you very much.”

    The beardless ayatollahs.

  15. Patrick; the facts you shared are why this November 8th election is vital for more than the presidential level. There are many state level positions up for grabs – IF the Democrats go to the polls and vote the Republicans OUT. It is necessary to begin taking back America.

  16. If a future VP Pence were displeased by an SSK blog, would her Service Provider obey a request by the VP to “disappear” the blog and end the service? Would SSK have legal recourse? A 7/30/16 NYT editorial, “The Blog That Disappeared” by Prof Roxanne Gay of Purdue Univ. tells of a 14-yr blog, and archives, ended by the Provider, apparently under rights of the Terms of Service Agreement.

  17. Mike Pence is not Christian. He has chosen to prostitute himself out the Trump because he knew he was going to be unemployed in Indiana after the election. He sold his soul (not sure he really had one) in an attempt to gain even more power.

  18. Pence exemplifies the evangelical pseudo Christians’ hidden mantra – DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO.

  19. JoAnn,

I’ve been doing some serious thinking this morning. Our friends on the Blog don’t understand us very well. As you know, we were both born just months apart. I’ll be 79 in two weeks.

Unlike the Jane Fonda and the Tom Hayden, we never gave up on the Civil Rights struggle in the U.S. Our vision is still right on target. You have to see things from the beginning in order to be confident enough to make the right call. That’s the only way.

Milton Mayer expressed the necessity of being there at the beginning in his book “They Thought They Were Free.” Mayer, who was a Quaker, is credited with the slogan….”Speaking truth to Power.” Both my partner at The Political Epidemiology Institute, Harvey Wheeler, and Mayer were Fellows at The Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions in Santa Barbara. It was our premier DEMOCRACY THINK TANK. http://www.StrategicPower.org

One of Harvey’s last E-mail to me before he died in 2004 was the following. He knew I was there at the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. I was flying out to California to visit with him and research the files of the Center at the University of California-Santa Barbara. I knew his health was failing. He died a few weeks after our visit.

I continute to appreciate your comments. I would LOVE to edit my Oral History into a book with you.

But don’t let this comment discourage you. It my be we should start a CSDI [Center for the Study of Democratic Instituions] site on line.

    Harvey

Harvey was the author of the novel “Fail Safe” which later became a movie starring Henry Fonda and Walter Matthau. Harvey later teamed with George Clooney for a live presentation of “Fail Safe” on TV. According to the internet, all visitors to the Clooney home have to view “Fail Safe.” George Clooney knows the importance of Harvey’s vision.

  20. Why have we NOT heard a request to boycott Trump’s businesses? They would be easy to find; he plasters that name on everything…wonder if Pence has been required to get a Trump tattoo yet? Trump certainly owns him.

  21. Gordon Evans,

SSK doesn’t worry about having her blog removed mysteriously or otherwise. Being a savvy woman, she does not depend on free web hosting such as offered by Google, etc.

The blogger in question did not bother to maintain a backup, did not see a need to pay the $10 or so per month for a domain name and for web hosting services…he was hopelessly naive and now expects us to be sympathetic.

When using Google, you are not the customer, you are the product who willingly shares your every thought, dream, and wish each time you do a Google search. By the way, Google search is my friend, but I realize there are strings attached if I decide to use one of Google’s ‘free’ services, including gmail or blog hosting.

  22. JoAnn,

“Why have we NOT heard a request to boycott Trump’s businesses? They would be easy to find; he plasters that name on everything…”

I understand your frustrations. However, I believe the only way Trump/Pence can be beaten is on the issues. Boycott in my estimation will only encourage them. It would mean that we couldn’t win on the issues, which I’m certain that we can if we just don’t panic.

  23. Nancy,

“Mike Pence is not Christian. Pence exemplifies the evangelical pseudo Christians’ hidden mantra – DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO.”

You’re 100% right. He’s closer to blasphemy than Christianity.

  24. Scanning today’s comments, I’m reminded of similar, actually verbatim, sentiments expressed before the ’08 and ’12 presidential elections where one could read the comments following any opinion piece or news story published by the Bum F@*k, Arkansas “BiWeekly Bigot”. Without fail, the “BiWeekly Bigot” stories amassed a large number of comments that went something like this, “Barack Obama is not Christian.” Remember those tacky comments?

  25. It may be just the circles that I run in but I am encountering almost nobody that can, with a straight face, say “I believe in Trumpence”.

Of course virtually all Fox watchers still have grave doubts about Hillary usually expressed as “I don’t like her”.

That’s why I think that the probability is low (but the consequences existential) for a Trumpence victory this fall.

    How about after the fall?

I think that both parties will be by necessity reborn towards the left. At least that would be the natural reaction but the fly in the ointment is ALEC. The Kochs are not going to run out of money or all of a sudden become patriotic. Their coup attempt will continue or even double down. Oligarchy is the only way they win.

Now we may feel good about them spending all of their money but every dollar that they successfully invest in their cause will cost us taxpayers several in taxes recovering from the delayed response to climate change and it’s consequences that is their real motivation.

That’s why campaign finance reform is not just right but it’s a necessary cost control mechanism. We can’t afford business interests buying who makes, enforces and adjudicates law.

Business must have a seat at the table but it must be no bigger than the others.

  26. BSH,

“Without fail, the “BiWeekly Bigot” stories amassed a large number of comments that went something like this, “Barack Obama is not Christian.” Remember those tacky comments?”

Are you saying today’s comments about Pence are “tacky”? Are you putting Barak Obama in the same category as Pence?

  27. Pete,

“It may be just the circles that I run in but I am encountering almost nobody that can, with a straight face, say “I believe in Trumpence”.”

Don’t be mislead by the circles you run in. There are many other circles. The presidential campaigns haven’t even started. Unfortunately, New York doesn’t have the same unique position that it once represented.

  28. BSH, the folks commenting, then and now, were saying Obama is Muslim. Not the same thing at all as you spin it. Mike Pence frequently and proudly attests to be Christian, yet his actions belie his claim. His “Christian beliefs” appear to be expendable. Would you feel better if we say “Mike Pence is not acting in a Christ-like manner”?

  29. Marv,

I’m saying the ’08 and ’12 comments (as in ‘Barack Obama is not Christian’) were hate-fueled comments made by angry people who wished to vent. Likewise, I’m saying the present comments (as in ‘Mike Pence is not Christian’) are hate-fueled comments made by angry people who wish to vent.

Who gives a good god damn if Obama, Biden, Clinton, Kaine, Trump, or Pence are devotees of any particular faith group or are simply common garden variety carrots and turnips?

  30. BSH, I think that what we all hope for are more honest politicians. Some have farther to go than others, although I think it’s informative that Politifact has not found a completely honest one yet. I hope that’s because they are unable to distinguish between dishonesty and ignorance. People might say what they thought was right but in fact isn’t.

  31. ALEC is funded by such as the Kochs. I encourage all readers to read Jane Mayer’s “Dark Money,” in which she sets out the facts underlining the libertarian takeover first of the Republican Party and then the country (in concert with corporations living high on the hog following Powell’s infamous 1971 memorandum in re how corporations can take over the political process). We are at greater risk from within than without sources.

  32. Marv, “Don’t be mislead by the circles you run in” applies to everyone. Unfortunately all of us are limited to our circles for first hand information and second hand information needs to be vetted which most of us aren’t very skilled at.

  33. Gerald perhaps some of our problems are from the marriage consummated by the Koch’s of two dysfunctional political worldviews, libertarianism and conservatism.

One says don’t invest in the future the other says don’t invest in government.

  34. BSH –

What the Hell is wrong with you today? You are bitching that others are here just to vent and yet you are venting a whole lot more than the rest of us.

Take a good long look in the mirror and then stop accusing other people of doing the same thing that you are complaining about!!!

Your comment – “Who gives a good god damn if Obama, Biden, Clinton, Kaine, Trump, or Pence are devotees of any particular faith group or are simply common garden variety carrots and turnips?”

When Pence stops claiming to be a “Christian first” in his description of himself and claiming that he makes all of his decisions based upon Christianity, then you can say stupid comments like the one that I copied above from your post.

Stop being so ignorant in your attacks on others and chill out.

  35. BSH,

The following is from the History Channel. I thought some of us might need a refresher course in “peace at any price.”

“Appeasement, the policy of making concessions to the dictatorial powers in order to avoid conflict, governed Anglo-French foreign policy during the 1930s. It became indelibly associated with Conservative Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. Although the roots of appeasement lay primarily in the weakness of post-World War I collective security arrangements, the policy was motivated by several other factors.

Firstly, the legacy of the Great War in France and Britain generated a strong public and political desire to achieve ‘peace at any price’. Secondly, neither country was militarily ready for war. Widespread pacifism and war-weariness (not too mention the economic legacy of the Great Depression) were not conducive to rearmament. Thirdly, many British politicians believed that Germany had genuine grievances resulting from Versailles. Finally, some British politicians admired Hitler and Mussolini, seeing them not as dangerous fascists but as strong, patriotic leaders. In the 1930s, Britain saw its principle threat as Communism rather that fascism, viewing authoritarian right-wing regimes as bulwarks against its spread.

The League of Nations was intended to resolve international disputes peacefully. Yet the League’s ineffectiveness soon became apparent. In 1931, when Japan invaded Manchuria, the League condemned the action. However, without either the weight of the US or the power of its own army, it was unable to stop Japan. By 1937, Japan had launched a full-scale invasion of China. In October 1935, the League imposed economic sanctions but little more when Mussolini invaded Abyssinia. In March 1936, a cautious Hitler remilitarised the Rhineland, forbidden under Versailles. The feared Anglo-French reaction never came. In the League’s council, the USSR was the only country to propose sanctions. British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin ruled out the possibility.

Germany and Italy now realised that the democracies were seeking to avoid confrontation, so both countries continued to ‘test the limits’. During the Spanish Civil War, Hitler and Mussolini contravened the ‘Non-Intervention Agreement’, sending troops, equipment and planes to back the rebels. Their intervention was ignored by the international community. When Chamberlain became Prime Minister in May 1937, the pattern of appeasement had already been set. In March 1938, Hitler’s Anschluss (union) with Austria was once again met with Anglo-French impotence and inaction.

Czechoslovakia had been created under Versailles, and included a large German minority mostly living in the Sudetenland on the border with Germany. In mid-September 1938, Hitler encouraged the leader of the Sudeten Nazis to rebel, demanding union with Germany. When the Czech government declared martial law, Hitler threatened war.

On 15 September, Chamberlain met Hitler at Berchtesgaden. Without consulting the Czech authorities, he pledged to give Germany all the areas with a German population of more than 50 per cent. France was persuaded to agree. Hitler then altered his criteria, demanding all the Sudetenland. At the Munich Conference on 30 September, Britain and France agreed to his demands. Chamberlain was confident that he had secured ‘peace for our time’.

Appeasement was not without its critics. Churchill believed in a firm stand against Germany, and Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden resigned in February 1938 over Britain’s continued acquiescence to fascist demands. The left-wing also attacked Chamberlain’s blindness. In March 1939, when Germany seized the remainder of Czechoslovakia, it was clear that appeasement had failed. Chamberlain now promised British support to Poland in the case of German aggression. A misguided belief in ‘peace in our time’ was replaced by a reluctant acceptance of the inevitability of war.
    Nazi Germany
    Poland
    Did you Know
In 1940, three British journalists anonymously published the book Guilty Men. It called for the removal from public office of 15 politicians and labelled appeasement as “deliberate surrender of small nations in the face of Hitler’s blatant bullying.”

  36. Marv,

Interesting info from the History channel. Thanks for sharing.

I have noticed over the past week that BSH has been making personal attacks against other commenters. There is no reason to personally attack others. It uncovers her lack of full comprehension of the issues referred to in Sheila’s posts and that she wants to focus more on judging and critiquing others’ comments, rather than commenting on the blog post itself.

  37. Pete,

Marv, “Don’t be mislead by the circles you run in” applies to everyone.

I don’t run around in circles. That’s the biggest difference between you and me. As you have stated, it can cause a big problem.

Over time I’ve been exposed to about all the circles. Some of which I’m sure you have never considered, from the so-called top of our society to the bottom. That’s why I have lunch at the Mary Singleton Senior Citizen Center every day for the past two or three years. There are about 150 African-Americans and about 10 or 15 of us “others.” I do this because I believe race is our number #1 problem. It’s very difficult to see that from an “ivory tower” or from a different CIRCLE. “Circles”cloud your vision.

  38. Marv one of the things that limits us all is that 100% of the pathways to our brain come from our five senses that evolved only to inform us of threats and opportunities in our immediate surrounds and at our scale.

That reveals an infinitesimal fraction of what is.

  39. Pence has always been a shill for the conservative issue of the moment. Why would we expect anything new or different?

  40. Nancy,

“I have noticed over the past week that BSH has been making personal attacks against other commenters. There is no reason to personally attack others.”

The problems we’re facing are somewhat like what the families had to endure during our Civil War. It divided families. And what we’re facing now, especially, with politicians like Pence is a major problem in certain sectors of the Christian community. And that can divide families where many have different interpretations of what it is to be a Christian. It’s just a GUESS but maybe BSH is caught in the middle of a POTENTIAL mess and only “peace at any cost” can make it go away. More than likely, we have both been her targets since we don’t mind “stirring the pot.” [I’m not going to stop, I’m not an idiot]

To be honest, I’ve been in that position in my extended family and it can be very upsetting. I still haven’t figured out the answer. There might not be a good one.

  41. Pete,

“Marv one of the things that limits us all is that 100% of the pathways to our brain come from our five senses that evolved only to inform us of threats and opportunities in our immediate surrounds and at our scale.

That reveals an infinitesimal fraction of what is.”

I wish it wasn’t so. But we’re in one terrible mess. Denying it is a very plausible alternative. I don’t want to argue with you on that. It seems that BSH and you deal with it in a very similar way by attacking the messenger.

  42. Marv, I try not to but, on the other hand, believe that everyone is entitled to learn including me. How else does one keep from falling further behind?

I was just pointing out that all seeing and knowing are pretty big shoes to fill.

  43. BTW Marv I really enjoyed the History Channel post.

It’s one of those times in history that everyone would like to simplify.

As usual mistakes are black and white only in retrospect.
