Just in case you haven’t been following the chaos at Health and Human Services–or haven’t recognized the probable effects of placing a demented conspiracy theorist at its head– nine former CDC Directors published a joint op-ed in the New York Times, titled “We Ran The CDC: Kennedy Is Endangering Every American’s Health.”
An excerpt will convey their concerns, which are informed by that hated thing called expertise. (You know that in this administration, it’s disqualifying to actually know what you are talking about..)
Mr. Kennedy has fired thousands of federal health workers and severely weakened programs designed to protect Americans from cancer, heart attacks, strokes, lead poisoning, injury, violence and more. Amid the largest measles outbreak in the United States in a generation, he’s focused on unproven treatments while downplaying vaccines. He canceled investments in promising medical research that will leave us ill prepared for future health emergencies. He replacedexperts on federal health advisory committees with unqualified individuals who share his dangerous and unscientific views. He announced the end of U.S. support for global vaccination programs that protect millions of children and keep Americans safe, citing flawed research and making inaccurate statements. And he championedfederal legislation that will cause millions of people with health insurance through Medicaid to lose their coverage. Firing Dr. Monarez — which led to the resignations of top C.D.C. officials — adds considerable fuel to this raging fire.
We are worried about the wide-ranging impact that all these decisions will have on America’s health security. Residents of rural communities and people with disabilities will have even more limited access to health care. Families with low incomes who rely most heavily on community health clinics and support from state and local health departments will have fewer resources available to them. Children risk losing access to lifesaving vaccines because of the cost.
This is unacceptable, and it should alarm every American, regardless of political leanings.
It is really difficult to get one’s head around the extent of the damage–not to mention havoc– being wrought daily by the proudly ignorant, intellectually-limited and thoroughly repulsive creature who inexplicably occupies the Oval Office. America’s stature in the world has cratered; domestically, we are slipping into fascism; economically we’re heading toward recession; and the cretins Trump has put in charge of our governing agencies are waging war against science, knowledge and expertise. (And history, culture, art and architecture, education…)
It’s not much comfort to recognize that the health of the racist, know-nothing MAGA base will decline with that of the rest of us.
I keep thinking about a meme making the rounds on social media: our best hope is that Trump is getting his medical advice from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
If the online speculation about his health caused by the sudden non-appearance of our publicity-hound President turns out to be accurate, perhaps there’s something to that…

“I keep thinking about a meme making the rounds on social media: our best hope is that Trump is getting his medical advice from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.” (As an aside, my copies from the blog are always duplicated and I need to delete the second posting each time.}
The above quote from Sheila and the recent Facebook post, “Trump is the worst president since Trump” succinctly tells us the dilemma we are currently living through. The recent RFK, Jr., hearing and the full-out anger of the GOP questioning and accusations against his asinine and life-and-death decisions to make drastic changes are meaningless to Trump and MAGA; believing they are safe from being afflicted because they ARE Trump and MAGA.
Sheila, your post today is so accurate and well stated.
Robert F Kennedy is just one of the evil men on Trump’s cabinet, but his policies are also directly responsible for endangering the health of our children. It’s deliberate, cruel and unconscionable. The health of our country is literally in jeopardy.
The clearest and most present danger of RFKJr’s anti-vaxx campaign is to children. My wife and now speak of him as “KKK,” for “Kid Killer Kennedy.” Please spread the word.
Well, Trump’s doctor says he has “chronic venous insufficiency” in his legs. I think the lack of blood flow to the brain would explain a lot, but I guess it’s the flow of blood to the heart, which also explains a lot. 😉
Suppose you’re familiar with the human body’s chakra system or the origins of yoga. In that case, you’ll likely recognize a connection to a disease affecting individuals below the root chakra, which corresponds to the groin for men. When your chi or ki is blocked in a certain area, you will manifest dis-ease. Energy is at the core of most Eastern Medicines. An intuitive I know from Indiana, traveling the country, says Trump’s energy level is so low that it can’t even reach the root chakra or the beginning of the system. She said all his chakras are blocked and he’s literally imploding, from an energy perspective. I’m sure Xi Jinping and Modi know this very well. 😉
If I remember, RFK made a deal with Trump for his endorsement. He most likely would have cost Trump the election had he stayed in to run. I support his anti-stance on Big Pharma running our healthcare system. Many of Big Pharma’s expensive meds were developed from the natural world. Obviously, they don’t want the federal government to legalize cannabis because the need for anxiety and pain meds would diminish. Our bodies can metabolize cannabis better than their engineered meds.
Speaking of natural science, have you heard about DMT? It’s a psychedelic that the body produces and metabolizes so quickly that it’s hard to research. Scientists can’t figure out why the body produces it, but it makes reality more real versus tripping for hours or days on most psychedelics. Of course, the government has made it illegal, even though it has been used for spiritual or religious purposes for eons – ever hear of a spirit quest?
And now we know it’s produced in the body in relatively large doses. It’s called the “spirit molecule,” but it’s illegal. It’s not addictive, and the high only lasts a few minutes. If our bodies produce this agent, why is it illegal?
I could go on and on about Big Pharma’s control over our lives, or go into detail on Purdue Pharma’s role in the opioid crisis, but I’ll spare you. RFK has been attacked harshly for years by Big Pharma, which pays millions and millions to the uniparty in Washington. Do you think Eli Lilly has any control over the MAGA Republicans in Indiana? 😉
I would say MAHA is more dangerous than MAGA because they are going up against the corrupted agencies like the CDC, FDA, DEA, etc. I certainly don’t trust any of them, and RFK and his MAHA squad are going up against them. Big Pharma has a significant influence over legacy media as well. 😉
There is a long list of Big Pharma lawsuits over the past decade, with multi-billion-dollar settlements for wrongdoing. Whistleblowers took them down after they watched bribery, coercion, federal agency capture, etc.
While some of these MAHA people are nuts (Dr. Oz), they are also very committed to fixing our healthcare system from industry capture. Talk about a rigged system…it’s why young smart people like Luigi Mangione resort to violence.
p.s. And remember the nearly 12-hour Epstein jail video, which had the missing minute? Bondi claimed the “video reset” every night at midnight. Well, that was another lie from the DOJ. Congress got the tape from the FBI, but guess what? It raises even more questions:

Tick, tock, tick, …
Todd, Any ordinary detective story writer would not hesitate to smell and describe the fish odor surrounding Epstein’s “suicide”. Guys like that don’t hang themselves; they’re way too narcissistic to even imagine enduring the pain.
Next, the whole idea of the P-2025 manifesto is to show that the institutions don’t work so they can be privatized and turned into profit centers for the evil wretches in the Heritage Foundation, et. al. They define fascism. Fascists give not a single whit about the people who make them rich. What these damned fools don’t realize is that one day their money won’t mean a damned thing either. Expect a plethora of death-bed confessions.
Let’s lay the blame where it belongs! Senators Barrasso and Cassidy, please stand up. He was approved by one vote, You are both physicians. You both knew full well how this would work. Sadly you were too cowardly to take a stand for your beliefs. One principle that I think of is, “First, do no harm!” We’ve hear that for years. You’ve apparently forgotten that.
RFK Jr is not a standout in this administration. Nobody knows what they are doing except Stephen Miller, who knows exactly which parts of the Constitution he hates because they are based on the principles of equality among us and the natural rights of people.
We will rid them of political power someday, and the only variable is how much trauma will be suffered by which Americans between now and then.
I agree that Big Pharma has reaped huge profits by doing more to treat illness than to cure it, thus increasing the flow of profits over decades. That being said, my partner would have died decades sooner without the life-altering medications and technological advances in medicine that Big Pharma produced, with, I might add, huge subsidies from taxpayers in research done in public/private university hospitals for one.
I am old enough to remember when whooping cough, measles, polio, mumps and pneumonia killed and maimed children and vulnerable adults before vaccines made most of them virtually extinct in our country. Willful ignorance and the deliberate erasure of family/social/cultural memory of those terrible diseases that were a constant threat, all in the name of “freedom” makes a mockery of that word.
I am wondering how long MAGA handlers will go before they decide that RFK Jr has served his purpose and has become too much of a liability. They used him to gain his voters for dump. Well, now they have the executive firmly in hand and no longer need his minions’ support, so he can be cut loose. I’m sure there is plenty of dirt they can dig up to further sully his reputation to make firing him easy. Even if there isn’t, they will make something up.
When most of the masses have nothing left to lose, change will come, probably violently, if history is any predictor. I fear for my children and theirs. My responsibility is to insure that they have opportunity to reach their full potential safely and securely. RESIST.
The posting is spot-on, and the comments as well. In my view Vernon is right about Epstein, and I’ll back that with my 51 years in the mental health field…working.
Peggy nails it for the 2 doctors, as well! But, this is how Trump works. So, those 2 gentlemen(?) have safe jobs, but will have to deal with the guilt. This is another time in which I wish karma was a real thing.
RFKjr is a gullible ignoramus but the people who approved his appointment to such a powerful position are just flat your evil. Just like the Republicans in Congress who voted to acquit Trump the TWO times he faced impeachment. There are already people who have died as a direct result of their decisions (children in the U.S., Africa and Ukraine from measles, AIDS and war to name a few) and many more will die. The longer he and the Project2025 cabal stay in power, the more blood those evil people will have on their hands.
Mitch D. Oh, that Karma was real! Alas it is not, never has been, and never will be. Those who espouse it find that their belief in it is an useful excuse for doing nothing as in, “Karma will take care of it.” With injustice or corruption so easily taken care of they can return to their insular lives where self-absorption and magical thinking provide a world view of wealth and security. For many it remains so for decades, providing generations with money, and power. From the robber baron families of the U.S. to the world bankers and Nazi families in South America, they thrive and go on and on, never facing justice or paying up for their crimes.
flat-out evil. Auto correct got me again!
We need a national VOTE REPUBLICANS OUT day
Amen, Theresa!
Amen, Mb crigler!
