I completely agree with Steve Benen on this–the Constitution is not a suggested "draft" into which we insert provisions to deal with the paranoia of the moment.

In Texas (of course!) the legislature is considering a voter ID bill not dissimilar to Indiana's. That's unfortunate enough (although Indiana's law does an admirable job of achieving its real goal, which was voter suppression. )
